Christian's Music for Minors is a Connecticut state registered charity established in January 2018 by Christian Arrie Boudreau at the age of 15. Having a strong understanding of the importance that music can play in the life of a young person, Christian's Music for Minors was created to provide opportunity to those who have a strong desire to pursue their love of instrumental music though may not have the financial resources to do so.
Our goals are simple, yet challenging just the same: collect gently used instruments via donation (or purchase at nominal cost), have them repaired/refurbished if determined to be of good value, then provide them to children or organizations that service children, at no cost in an effort to foster a love of music.
Christian Boudreau, now age 17, founder of Christian's Music for Minors is primarily responsible for publicity and fundraising efforts. Christian is a senior at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT where he performs as the principal clarinetist in the CRH symphony orchestra while also having enjoyed time as an alto saxophone and flute soloist in their Jazz Band. In addition, he has performed with multiple chamber groups and in a guest capacity with Choate's wind ensemble. Prior to his joining Choate Rosemary Hall, Christian performed with the Hartt School's Harmony Wind and Philharmonia Wind ensembles as well with the Northern Regional Music Festival in both their concert band and jazz bands. Christian was accepted to and has been participating in the CRH Arts Concentration program which allows him to focus on pursuing his ongoing love of instrumental music via both large and small ensemble performances. In June 2019 Christian and the CRHO participated in a concert tour of Italy where they performed an array of classical selections for audiences in Rome, Florence and Cremona. The group is next scheduled to perform at the Kennedy Center February 2020!
Gavin Boudreau, age 13, joined Christian's Music for Minors in June 2018 to take on the responsibilities of web design, instrument evaluation and condition enhancement needs. Gavin is in 8th grade at Avon Middle School in Avon, CT where he performs with their concert band on oboe and has enjoyed time with their jazz band on clarinet. In addition Gavin is an active member of the Hartt School's Philharmonia Wind (clarinet) ensemble and has previously performed with Harmony Winds (oboe). Gavin has previously participated in a school based trio on tenor saxophone, as well as in the Northern Regional Music Festival on clarinet. He was accepted into the musical festival again this year on both clarinet and oboe and performed with them in March. This summer (2019) Gavin participated in a week long youth festival at the Hartt School to enhance his woodwind skills under the direction of Curtis Blood.
