After a year of planning, research, fundraising and social outreach, Christian's Music for Minors became an official Connecticut state registered charity in early 2018. Armed with a strong understanding of the importance that music can play in the life of a young person, Christian Arrie Boudreau created Christian's Music for Minors at the age of 15 to provide opportunity to those who have a strong desire to pursue their love of instrumental music though may not have the financial resources to do so.
Our goals are simple, yet challenging just the same: collect gently used instruments via donation (or purchase at nominal cost), have them repaired/refurbished if determined to be of good value, then provide them to children or organizations that service children, at no cost in an effort to foster a love of music.
Christian Boudreau, now age 20, founder of Christian's Music for Minors, is primarily responsible for publicity and fundraising efforts. Christian graduated in May 2020 from Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT where he performed as the principal clarinetist in the CRH symphony orchestra and enjoyed solo opportunities on alto sax and flute in the Jazz Band. Christian was an active member of the CRH Arts Concentration Program which allowed him to develop his craft while participating in both large and small ensemble groups. Prior to joining Choate, Christian performed in a variety of ensembles at the Hartt School as well as in the Northern Regional Music Festival for both their concert band and jazz bands. In June 2019 Christian and the CRHO participated in a concert tour of Italy where they performed an array of classical selections for audiences in Rome, Florence and Cremona. The group also performed at the Kennedy Center on February 17th 2020 after which it received a standing ovation. An unforgettable experience. Christian completed post graduate studies at Avon Old Farms School where his instrumental talents on saxophone and flute took center stage. Christian is currently a sophomore at Wesleyan University in CT where he pursuing pre-law studies, enjoying the music scene and fostering his love of baseball as a member of their varsity team.
Gavin Boudreau, age 16, joined Christian's Music for Minors in June 2018 to take on the responsibilities of web design, instrument evaluation and condition enhancement needs. Gavin followed his brothers footsteps to Choate Rosemary Hall where he is currently a junior, pursuing his love of music in the Arts Concentration Program as a clarinetist in the symphony orchestra and oboist in the advanced chamber ensemble. In addition, he enjoyed performing with the Connecticut Youth Symphony Orchestra for the fall of 2021 while continuing his studies under the direction of Charles Huang (Oboe) and Gene Wie (clarinet). Gavin has also performed with the Hartt School's Philharmonia Wind (clarinet) and Harmony Wind (oboe) ensembles, as well as in the Regional and Allstate Music Festivals after having received perfect scores on both clarinet and oboe! Gavin has participated in summer music festivals at the Hartt School and at Choate Rosemary Hall to enhance his woodwind skills and for the past several years has participated in the Lucarelli Oboe Master Class on Music Mountain in CT under the direction of Charles Huang and Kristin Leitterman. Most recently, Gavin has been selected as a member of the 2022 NAfME All-National Concert Band which will perform the weekend of November 3-6 in National Harbor, Maryland!
